Harjinder (Harry) Kang
Harjinder is the founder of Ojala Financial Corp. His drive and entrepreneurial skills have allowed Harjinder to build a financial consulting and corporate advisory firm to service small to medium sized companies with financial solutions often requiring financing in the $1 million to $50 million range. Harjinder graduated from GNDU University (Punjab, India) in 1986 with a B.A. in Political Science and Economics. After immigrating to Canada, Harjinder received the Post Diploma in International Business Management from Seneca College. Harjinder has passed and received many Canadian financial designations including the CSC, CPH, PFP, and the Canadian Futures Certification and is currently finishing course work in CIM. Harjinder’s first position in the Canadian capital markets was as an Investment Specialist for TD Asset Management. Here, Harjinder was recognized as a top performer in 1997-98. Harjinder moved to CIBC in 1998 to work as Financial Advisor. He shortly moved to business banking at CIBC in the capacity of Senior Business Advisor. He notably worked closely with a group of 120 business owners/managers to find effective solutions for their diverse financial needs. This group of clients included early stage “growers” and established mature businesses. In addition to his corporate finance work, Harjinder has, to his credit, several years of experience in real estate transactions.
Joe Barbieri has spent over 13 years in Financial Services industry out of which he spent a major chunk of his time on the institutional side of business.
He has covered positions from Fund Accounting to Investment Research on the consulting, investment manager and client side of the institutional table. His experience includes association with Toronto Dominion Bank, State Street Bank, Russell Investment Group (Frank Russell Canada), Franklin Templeton Investments and OPSEU Pension Trust. He is a Bachelor of Commerce and a Bachelor of Civil Engineering from University of Toronto. He also carries a Chartered Financial Analyst designation (CFA) from the CFA Institute. He has published articles in the year 2009 in Pension and Benefits Monitor Magazine as well as on the Internet. He speaks as a Guest on financial matters and also hosts The QB Talk Show which is a program discussing Finance on Internet and Television.
Upinder Bajwa has over 18 years of experience covering expertise and insights on a broad spectrum of topics that include financial planning, strategic investment planning, mortgage strategies, investment management, sales and administration. In his capacity as Professor and Coordinator-Finance Programs with Sheridan School of Business, he has handled programs concerning Business Finance, Banking and Wealth Management as well as courses relating to Financial Services Industry. Before that he worked with CIBC as a Senior Financial Advisor-Imperial Service and as an Investment Representative with Edward Jones managing assets over $70M. He is a past Assistant Director of Indian Military Service. He has a Master of Business Administration Degree from University of Delhi, India and a Master of Arts Degree from Punjabi University, India. He also carries several professional designations such as Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Certified Financial Planner (CFP) and Professional Financial Planning (PFP). He is an active Affiliate of Toronto Society of Financial Analysis and Indo-Canadian Chamber of Commerce.
Arthur Stern has over 25 years of experience in financial services covering a diverse range of industries. He is very experienced in the board room. His expertise includes extensive work in business strategy, consulting, corporate finance, mergers& acquisitions and human resource development. He has been associated with Stern Growth Management Inc. as a leading consultant providing a full range of investment banking services to both private and exchange listed companies. Here, he represented a vendor as Interim CFO of a $700M North American manufacturer in order to conclude a transaction with a large private equity fund. Earlier to that as executive V.P & C.F.O. of Image Processing Systems Inc., he closed a public offering on the Toronto Stock Exchange, moving the company's listing from the CDNX. Before that he worked with Arthur Anderson & Co. on a number of senior executive positions involving important contributions in areas of financial audit, cost control, management restructuring and business advisory services. He is a Chartered Accountant from Ontario Institute of Chartered Accountants and a Bachelor of Commerce from Concordia University. He is an active member of many professional, community and philanthropic organizations.
Henry Schnurbach is a proven strategic business leader with intimate multi-plant North American knowledge of marketing, manufacturing, importing, retailing and distribution. His 30 years plus experience includes acquisitions and divestitures; raising debt capital, initial public offerings, devising and implementing innovative sales and marketing strategies, turning around sick companies, investor relations and product development. As Chairman of The Bargain Shop Holdings Inc., he has provided effective business leadership to a private Canadian retail group with 250 stores and served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Lorex Technology Inc, Toronto-a consumer electronic distribution and manufacturing company specializing in video security cameras and digital video recorders returning the ailing company to profitability in a short span of time. He is the past President and CEO of a $220M company with 1500 employees namely, Polyair Inter Pack Inc., which he took public in a few years. Previous to that he served Atlantique Video, Montreal, Quebec and TSX listed Mirtone, Toronto and a few more reputed companies in the same capacity. Henry is a Bachelor of Commerce from Sir George Williams University and carries a C.M.A. Designation.
